The new format of the BIBL officially approved

The new format of the EUROHOLD Balkan League for the upcoming 2010/2011 season - 2 groups with 5 teams each has officially been approved by the Sports Director of the BIBL - Mr. Shay Shtriks.   There are also some other minor changes in the format of the competition.   The first-placed teams from each group will qualify directly to the Final 4, while the teams who finish second and third will play quarterfinals, in order to fill the other 2 spots at the Final 4.   The quarter finals will be a best of 3 series.   "We were looking to have 10 strong teams in the league without any financial troubles, and now Im glad that we have a mix of experienced teams and newcomers in the league" Shay Shtriks said.   The Sports Director of the competition also had his comment on the changes in the group phase and the quarterfinals.   "I think this format is the best for now, as my opinion is that the teams will have to give their best and fight until the end to secure a spot in the Final 4."   The official regulations of the EUROHOLD Balkan League for the 2010/2011 season will be up on the official website after the 20th of August.   Also, Eleonora Rangelova has been appointed as an eligibility consultant for the league, as she is going to help with the rules around the transfers and the transfer windows.
