KK Brod-Svjetlost have appointed Zoran Kalpic as their new head coach. The team from Slavonski Brod started the season with Igor Kovacevic on the bench, but they released him last week after the bad start of the season. Brod-Svjetlost lost to OKK Beograd 66:72 in the BIBL 2010 opening game, and after that lost two consecutive games in the Croatian league.

Zoran Kalpic, born in 1968 comes back to his native Croatia after parting ways with Khimik Yuzhny. Kalpic was in charge of the team since last summer. A native of Sibenik Croatia, Kalpic has enjoyed a playing career with BC Sibenik for more than 10 years.

He started coaching in his hometown in the "Drazen Petrovic school of basketball", after that he moved to Ukraine where he was an assistant coach in Donetsk. He has also worked in Cedevita Zagreb.

"We had a couple of names on our list, but we couldn′t wait. There wasn′t a big choice of available coaches, and after Kalpic left his team in Ukraine, we thought he was the right choice for us. He is young and ambitious, who wants to develop as a coach and I think he is on the right place here now." said KK Brod-Svjetlost′s Executive Director Ivica Kardum.   KK Brod-Svjetlost are visiting the defending EUROHOLD Balkan League champions Levski in Sofia. The game is set for October 26th, 19.00 local time in Universiada Hall, Sofia.
