Jarrid Frye is a new name to the fans of the EUROHOLD Balkan League. The 193-cm tall guard signed for KK Feni Industries for the 2010/2011 season, replacing another American - James Life. Two rounds into the BIBL season, Frye, who played his college ball at Sacred Heart University in New York, answered some questions for our website.
Q: You signed with Feni this season, what is the feeling of being in the strongest Macedonian team for the last years?
JF: It′s good, the atmosphere is good. The practices are talented and we are all competitive, so it keeps us all on our best game.
Q: Macedonia isn′t new to you, after you spent last season in Ohrid, but now you play in the Balkan League, how do you find the competition?
JF: The competition is really good. Every team has a couple of really talented players. I′m really looking forward to playing all the other teams in the League.
Q: You lost to Mornar at home in your first BIBL game, but you bounced back with a win against Rilski, what should we expect from Feni?
JF: The loss against Mornar was tough. They really shot good from three-point range, which really helped them to get the victory. The best thing we can take from that game is that we are going to stay focused on defense for the whole 40 minutes of each game. So you should definitely expect tough defense from Feni.
Q: Feni played in the Final Four the previous two seasons in the Balkan League, but always failed at the semifinals, do you think you got what it takes to get to that final game this year?
JF: Yes, a few players were added to this already experienced Feni team, and I think that the guys who were here before know what it takes to win this league now, and we are all working hard towards achieving that goal.
Q: You′re the only non-European player on the team roster, how do you get along with your teammates, do you speak the language already?
JF: My teammates are great, we get along well both on and off the court. Most of them speak English, but I try to learn Macedonian as best as I can do. I still need some more experience, but it′s coming along.
Jarrid Frye is currently averaging 8.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals in 21 minutes per game for Feni.News
