OKK won the derby in Group A

 OKK Beograd overcame Levski with 82-79 in the third round of EUROHOLD Balkan League. The teams played a real derby in "Pionir" hall in Belgrade, and the game was decided in the final minutes. Levski had a big advantage in the third period, but the hosts managed to reduced the difference in the last quarter. This was the first loss for the Blues in Group A of the tournament after they achieved two wins at home against the newcomers KK Brod-Svjetlost and KK Ulcinj. OKK Beograd is still undefeated with two wins.



The game began with a lay-up by Aaron Harper. The hosts quickly equalized, and after 4 minutes of play the score was 6-6. In the end of the first quarter no one managed to escape forward - the hosts had only point lead after the first 10 minutes - 19-18.

 Levski started the second quarter very strong and managed to create a narrow lead after three-pointer by Harper, followed by baskets of Assen Velikov and Stefan Georgiev the score was 27-21 for Titi Papazov′s side. The hosts managed to reduce their trail to 3 points, but a three-pointer of Donald Cole in the middle of the period again put his team ahead by 6 points - 32-26. In the remaining time OKK narrow the difference to 5 points 41-36.

 The Blues were the better side after the break, and managed to increase their lead to 10 points. This came after a basket and a foul by Jason Crowe, followed by 2 points from Stefan Georgiev for 46-36. The double-digit advance for Levski continued in the next minutes, while Aaron Harper managed to set it to 17 points 65-48. However, the hosts made a11-1 record in their favor and finished the third quarter at 59-66.

 At the beginning of the last ten minutes OKK Beograd continued their good run and get close to only 2 points at 64-66. After a stable defence, hosts managed to turn the score and in the middle of the period they already led by 4 points - 72-68. Levski tried to reduce the deficit, but their efforts reached only to tied the score for 73-73 less than 3 minutes remaining. Until the end, the young Serbian squad took the right decisions and after a two successful free-throws, Dragan Mitrovic se the final score 82-79.

 The last one was the best scorer for OKK, nailing 17 points along with 6 assists. Slobodan Dundjerski finished with 14 points and 8 assists, while Aleksandar Tanaskovic ended with double-double - 14 points over 13 rebounds.

 For the guest from Sofia, Aaron Harper was most efficient with 22 points and 5 rebounds, while Stefan Georgiev added 11 points and 7 boards in the losing case.

 In the next round OKK Beograd will travel to Mostar, to face the local HKK Zrinjski, while Levski is resting.
