Mornar deservedly win against Rilski Sportist and secured the second place in Group B

KK Mornar Bar secured the second place in Group B of EUROHOLD Balkan

League, as Djordje Pavicevic’s young team won against Rilski Sportist  83:74 in Topolica Hall, after a superb second half. The hosts from Montenegro continued with their great performance this season, while Rilski Sportist only managed to stay close to their opponents only in the first half. The team from Samokov was without Stanislav Vaklinov who is out with a knee injury. In tonight’s game, debut as a head
coach for Rilski made Rosen Barchovski, who is also responsible for the Bulgarian National team.  

             This is Mornar’s fifth victory in the competition  and now they equal the leaders in Group B Feni Industries with a 5:2 balance, and still have a minor chance for the first place. The team from Bar need to win on road versus BC Mures, while Feni must lose in Pravets from the local side Balkan in the last round. Rilski is going to finishe third on 4-4, as the Bulgarian representative has no more games until the end of the regular season.

             The game started better for Mornar, as the young Montenegrin managed to take  the lead from the beginning -  after the first quarter the score was 31:20 in their favor . In the second period, Djordje Pavicevic`s side continued with their good performance, and after 16:16, they still were up by 11 points at halftime – 47:36. After 30 minutes of play the score was 67:51 for Mornar, as Rilski didn’t manage to find a way to turn the things in the other way and failed to decrease their trail. In the decisive last period Rilski Sportist tried to reduced the difference, but the champions
from the first edition of EUROHOLD Balkan League lost the control of the game in the last minutes and could only to win the last quarter – 16:23. On the other side Mornar Bar played one of their strongest games in the Balkan League, as the Montenegrins overcamed their opponents under the basket and deservedely registered their fifth win so far this season.

 

         19 years old Nemanja Radovic was the most efficient for Mornar Bar, landing 18 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks for the success. Bojan Ljubojevic added 16 points and 6 boards, while Nikola Ivanovic finished with 14 for the winners. Dimitar Karadjovski scored most for Rilski - 20 points, despite that he came from the bench. Ivan Lilov nailed 19, while Vladimir Mijovic was close to double-double, ending with 13 points and 9 rebounds in the losing case.
