Panathinaikos Athens is the 2011 Euroleague champion. Tonight in the final game of the competition, Zeljko Obradovic′s boys defeated Israeli powerhouse Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv and won the title. The Greens from Athens last won it in 2009 in Berlin.
 
PAO started the game beetter and didn′t give away the lead all night long. After 10 minutes they were up 15:22. At the halftime break their lead was smaller - 30:33, but after a really strong third quarter they led the game 54:43 after 30 minutes of play. Maccabi got close to Panathinaikos in the last two minutes of the game, but David Blatt′s side were unable to do anything more and lost 70:78.
 
This is the sixth time that Panathinaikos is becoming European club champion, while head coach Zeljko Obradovic won his 8th Euroleague crown.
 
Dimitris Diamantadis was one of the main reason for Panathinaikos′ win and was voted for MVP of the final game after 16 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds. Mike Batiste added 18 points and 6 rebounds, while Drew Nicholas scored 14. Romain Sato had 13 for PAO.
 
Chuck Eidson led Maccabi in scoring, finishing with 17 points on the night. Lior Eliyahu and Jeremy Pargo added 12 each, as Pargo had also 9 assists and 6 turnovers. David Blu finished with 14 points in Maccabi′s losing effort.
