One more Israeli team has sent an official request for participation in the EUROHOLD Balkan League for the upcoming 2011/2012 season. After Hapoel Tel-Aviv, now Hapoel Holon sent a letter, signed by their owner, asking to participate in the BIBL.

An interesting fact is that Pini Gershon might be coming back to the Balkans, if Holon′s request will be granted, as the former Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Bulgaria NT head coach has recently been hired as Head of Management for Hapoel Holon. Gershon has been a regular guest of the Balkan League in the past seasons.

However, in order for Hapoel Holon′s request to be granted, all of the member federations of the Balkan League - Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia to approve the Israeli team′s request to join the BIBL.

Hapoel Holon has a really good background - the team′s most recent success was winning the National Cup of Israel in 2009 and winning the Israeli League one year earlier - in 2008. They have five participations in European Club Competitions - in the Korac Cup and in the European Cup.

The team′s roster has well-known names - such as Jamie Arnold and Kasib Powell. Last season they finished 7th with a balance of 11-16.
