FIBA Europe approved the Israeli teams’ participation in EUROHOLD Balkan League

Today Friday 26.08.2011, The EUROHOLD Balkan League received an answer to the request about Israeli teams playing in the BIBL.Mr. Nar Zanolin, Secretary General of FIBA Europe confirm that FIBA Europe has a positive answer to this request, after confirmation by all the Board members.

The management of EUROHOLD Balkan League is very satisfied with how this matter turned out and is very thankful to FIBA Europe President Mr. Olafur Rafnsson and to FIBA Europe Secretary General Mr. Nar Zanolin for their support.

The decision of FIBA Europe shows they care about the development of the basketball in the Balkan region and it will help the League to move in the right direction. Adding Israeli teams to the competition will support reaching the main goals of BIBL – to promote the basketball game in the Balkans, to support and encourage the relations, contacts and coordination between the Federations, clubs and the basketball people in the area.

However, the Balkan League will always keep the identity of the Balkan basketball.

The two teams from Israel that will make their debut in the Balkan League in the 2011/2012 season are BC Galil Gilboa and BC Hapoel Tel-Aviv.
