BC Timisoara are set to make their debut in the EUROHOLD Balkan League and to represent Romania in the competition, being the only team from the country playing in the BIBL this season. This will be the second participation for Timisoara in an European Club Competition, as they have played in the Korac Cup in 1994/1995.
The Romanian side are already finished with their roster for the upcoming season, and they have some interesting names in there. Predrag Badnjarevic will be head coach of the team, and another Serbian will be his assistant - Milorad Perovic.
Bogdan Popescu is the most popular name in Timisoara′s roster. The Romanian forward has a season of experience in the EUROHOLD Balkan League - 10.7 points and 5.8 rebounds in 7 games for CSA Steaua Turabo in 2009/10. The club added a total of four Serbian players - guards Branko Cuic and Zlatko Jovanovic, along with forwards Robert Sarovic and Nenad Markovic.
In the paint the team has experienced center Dan Paltinisanu (208 cm, 31 years) along with youngsters Alexandru Mihuti (205 cm, 22 years) and George Toth (212 cm, 18 years). The team also added American forward Dominique Archie.
Timisoara has some really good results in the Romanian League and Cup in the past couple of seasons. The team′s most recent success is winning the Romanian Cup in 2010. In 2009 they won the silver medals in the championship, while in 2007 and 2008 had the silver in the Cup of Romania.
Last season they finished on the 11th position in the Romanian League.
BC Timisoara is in Group A of the 2011/2012 EUROHOLD Balkan League along with the teams of BC Rilski Sportist (Bulgaria), BC Galil Gilboa (Israel), KK Torus
