2011-2012 Team Preview: BC Galil GIlboa

BC Galil Gilboa is set for making a debut in the EUROHOLD Balkan League in 2011/2012. Along with BC Hapoel Tel-Aviv they will be the first Israeli teams to play in the BIBL.   Gail Gilboa is one of the most succesful Israeli basketball franchises. The club was founded in 2008, after the clubs of Hapoel Galil Elyon and Hapoel Gilboa merged into the new club. Just two years after the uniоn, Galil Gilboa won the Israeli championship, after beating Maccabi in the 2010 final. In 2011 they finished second.   Lior Lubin, a former guard of the Israeli NT is currently the head coach of BC Galil Gilboa. His assistant is Barak Peleg, also a former player.   The club has built a strong roster for the new season, relying on a mix between Israeli and American players. Romeo Travis, Allen Chaisson, Joseph Jones and Courtney Fells are the Americans on the team, but due to the BIBL regulations, only three of those four can be used in a single game. The most notable name from the Israeli players is the one of Ido Kozikaro, who is a regular presence in the Israeli NT.   Galil GIlboa is in Group A of the EUROHOLD Balkan League, along with BC Rilski Sportist (Bulgaria), KK Torus - SC Boris Trajkovski (Macedonia), KK Mornar (Montenegro), BC Timisoara (Romania) and OKK Beograd (Serbia).
