Levski and Feni are set to play one of the most exciting andawaited by the fans of the EUROHOLD Balkan League games this season, as theywill face each other on Thursday, the 15th of December at 17.30 in Universiada Hall in Sofia. Here is a brief retrospective at the rivalry between two of the most successful clubs in the history of the BIBL.

The two sides met for the first time in the quarterfinals of the competition in 2008/2009. Levski enjoyed a great performance in the first game of the series, defeating the Macedonian side by 16 points at home in Universiada – 91:75 on the 25th of February 2009. Stefan Georgiev was faultless – 28 points along with 10 rebounds, while Arnas Kazlauskas added 17 points for the win. Donald Cole led Feni with 28 points, while Zlatko Gocevski finished with 19.

In the second game – a week later in Kavadarci, on the 4th of March Feni secured a big win – 81:62, which guaranteed them a spot in the Final Four. Zlatko Gocevski had a terrific performance with 27 points, as Donald Cole added 24. Marcus Hall scored 17 for Levski and Charles Jones added 12.

In 2009/2010 the teams were drawn together in Group B of the EUROHOLD Balkan League and they were set to open the season in Universiada on the 10th of October. Levski came out victorious – 90:88 after 20 points by their captain Stefan Georgiev and 19 by newly-signed American Aaron Harper. Slobodan Mihajlovski had 18 points and 20 boards for Feni, and Ognen Stojanovski and Vlado Popovic added 16 points a piece.

In their second meeting of the season – on the 13th of January 2010 in Jasmin Hall in Kavadarci, Feni got revenge for their loss in Sofia, winning 88:86 at home. Vlado Popovic scored 15 points, Bosko Jovovic added 14 and Dusan Knezevic finished with 13. Aaron Harper led Levski with 29, while former Feni star Donald Cole added 23.

Levski and Feni have met a total of four times throughout the seasons of the EUROHOLD Balkan League, as they share the same balance – each team has two wins and two losses. However this is going to change on Thursday, December 15th when finally one of the teams will gain advantage.

Donald Cole is the only player that has played for both Feni and Levski. Since their first meeting in 2008/2009 the clubs have kept the following players – Feni still has Goran Samardziev, Marjan Gjurov, and Slobodan Mihajlovski while Levski has Stefan Georgiev, Zlatin Georgiev and Pavel Ivanov, along with Marcus Hall who returned to the team this season.

Both Levski and  Feni have been champions of the EUROHOLD Balkan League – Levski won the competition back in 2010, while Feni is the defending champion, having won the title in 2011. Another interesting fact is that Feni has participated in all three Final Fours of the BIBL so far, while Levski has played in two out of three possible.
