The 19th Nationwide European basketball referees camp will be held in Samokov

The 19th Nationwide European basketball referees camp will be held in Samokov, Bulgaria from June 11th until June 17th. This will be the third edition of the camp in Bulgaria, as back in 2010 the host was Samokov and last year the camp was held in Varna during the Boys U16 National Championship Finals.

Alan Richardson, the Camp Director is extremely satisfied with the organization in the previous two years and chose Samokov as a host venue one more time.

This is the only international basketball referees camp that is cooperating directly with FIBA, as there will be FIBA and Euroleague instructors present in Samokov. This year once again the camp will be held during the Boys U16 National Championship Finals, as the participants in the camp will officiate the games from the tournament.

A total of 56 referees from 20 countries will attend the camp (Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Oman, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Ukraine).

There will be a total of 8 FIBA international referees, including Ventsislav Velikov from Bulgaria, who recently became the country’s newest international referee.

The instructors of the camp will be Valentin Lazarov and Kamen Toshev (Bulgaria), Davorin Nakic (Croatia), Gjorgi Piperkov (Macedonia), Mansour Al Ahmari (Saudi Arabia), Stelios Koukoulekidis (Greece) and Leonid Chudin (Russia). Along with them present will be Alan Richardson (Camp Director) and Shay Shtriks (EUROHOLD Balkan League Sports Director)

The newest software for analysis will be used by the instructors and the camp staff to help the development of the referees.

All the guests of the camp will stay in Ela Hotel in Borovets.
