Kavala B.C. is one of the newest teams in the Greek professional basketball. The club is also known as E.K. Kavalas, with the club′s full name being Enosi Kalathosfairisis Kavalas, which means Kavala Basketball Union. The team is situated in the city of Kavala,  the second largest city in northern Greece, the principal seaport of eastern Macedonia and the capital of Kavala regional unit.

Kavala basketball club was originally founded in 2003. In 2008, Kavala and Panorama basketball club joined together to form the club of Union Kavala. In the same year, the merged club joined the first division of Greek pro basketball, the Greek Basket League, for the first time.

        To date, the club has played 5 seasons in the Greek top division (2008-09,
2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13). The club′s best finish in the top Greek
League so far is 6th place, in both the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.

        For the upcoming season the management of club is building brand new team. Currently in the club are playing three Americans, one Bulgarian and one Bosnian. 206cm tall forward-center William Colleman comes from the French club Le Mans, playing in Eurocup last year.  Point guard Jeremy Sears, coming from Austrian
side Kapfenberg and in the last season Sears was the club’s best player,
recording 17.1 points, 6.5 assists and 2.5 steals in 34 games. Other important
signings for Kavala are coming from the States – Bosnian Nemanja Mitrovic
played for Portland in NCAA1, while James Nunnally last team was Santa Barbara
in WCBL. Kavala signed also contracts with Bulgarian forward Simeon Iliev and the
local players  Nikolaos Stylianou, Dimitris Kalampakas, Miron Papadakis and Petros Velissariou. Head coach of the team will be Chris Chougaz who used to be assistant coach of Kavala between 2008 and 2010. He started last season with Iraklis Thessaloniki , but the moved to OFI Irakleio in Division B.


The team is playing his home games in Kalamitsa Sports Center with a capacity of 1500 seats.
