Team on Focus: BC Galil Gilboa
14-10-2012 | 11:16
BC Galil Gilboa will be looking to become the first team to win EUROHOLD Balkan League for the straight years. Last season the team hosted the Final Four and won a thrilling final against Levski. However this season it will be very hard to repeat as there are a lot of changes and the most important players left. Head coach Lior Lubin replaced them with other new ones but it remains to be seen whether BC Galil Gilboa can be the same team from last year.
Kenneth Hayes is one of the new signings in the team and he will be playing both guard positions. The local guys Nimrod Tishman and Yoad Bet-Yosef will also have some minutes at the point guard positions and they will share them with the American.
Dagan Yavtzuri, Amit Simchon and newli signed Rakim Sanders are the players that will play at the wings. They will be expected to provide some of the scoring of the team but for Sanders this will be the first season in Europe and he will have to adjust to the style of play.
Under the basket the team signed two Americans in Brandon Hunter and Mitchell Watt. Hunter has a lot of experience in the game and will have to help his young teammate who is in his first season in Europe. Amit Beir-Katz will also play some minutes under the basket and if former Israeli international Yaniv Green joins the team he will be of big help as well.
In general BC Galil Gilboa looks very different from last season. As we mentioned a lot of the best players left the team and the new ones will have to adjust to the new style of play. However for sure Galil remains one of the favourites in the competition and will be looking to reach the Final Four once again.
BC Galil Gilboa is in group A with the teams of BC Levski, KK Kumanovo 2009, KK Djuro Djakovic and KK Mornar.
