KK Kozuv opened EUROHOLD Balkan League with a good road win

The fifth season in EUROHOLD Balkan League started today in Belgrade with a game from group B. In this first match of the new campaign the local OKK Beograd lost to KK Kozuv at home by a score 66-74. The team from Gevgelija played very good second quarter and took a double digit lead and then managed to keep it until the end of the game. OKK tried a comeback and was very close to completing it but fell short. Next week KK Kozuv will host BC Rilski Sportist on October 24 (Wednesday) while the same day OKK will visit BC Kavala. 
 
KK Kozuv started better and took a 7-point lead at the middle of the first quarter. The hosts responded quickly and soon were close to their opponent. The visitors though once again went up and at the end of the quarter had a 19-16 lead after Milorad Sutulovic scored a late three-pointer for OKK.
 
In the second quarter KK Kozuv played very good defense and that reflected on the score board. The team made a good run and after scoring 9 unanswered points took a 14-point lead. The visitors held on to it until the end of the first half that came at 38-25.
 
At one point in the third quarter OKK cut the deficit to 9 points but that didn′t last long. KK Kozuv responded with a 9-1 run that took the margin up to 17 points. However the hosts cut some of it and were down 11 after 30 minutes of play. 
 
 
However OKK didn′t give up and started a comeback in the last quarter. The hosts were down by 10 points and made a 11-2 run and with five minutes to go KK Kozuv′s lead was cut to a single points. Then Vladimir Filipovic scored an important three-pointer for the visitors that helped them retain the lead. Soon it became an 8-point advantage and until the end of the game KK Kozuv held on to the win.
 
Dimitar Karadjovski was the top scorer for the winners with 17 points. Miladin Pekovic had 12 while Kiril Pavlovski scored 10 points.
 
For the hosts Milorad Sutulovic finished the game with 16 points. Youngster Ivan Marinkovic added 11 and Vladimir Popovic had 9 points.
