BC Galil Gilboa opened the defense of the title with a victory

Current EUROHOLD BIBL champion - BC Galil Gilboa, started with a victory the new season. The team from Gan Ner had very difficult game at home but opened the defense of the title with a hard fought 66-59 win against KK Djuro Djakovic. The game was close and interesting from start to finish and at the end the hosts managed to win it. Next game for Galil is on October 24 when the team will visit KK Mornar while KK Djuro Djakovic will play away at Levski the day before.

The visitors had an amazing start to the game and took the early lead. The team from Slavonski Brod took off very strong and went up by 14 points shortly after the middle of the first quarter. They kept their advantage until the end of it as Djuro Djakovic was up 23-16 after ten minutes.

The visitors held the lead for the whole second quarter and didn′t allow the hosts to tie the game. The team from Slavonski Brod once again went up a a double digit advantage but Galil cut the deficit to just 4 points. However the hosts didn′t make the next step and Djuro Djakovic took an 11-point lead shortly before the break. The hosts though scored the final two points of the first half and after 20 minutes KK Djuro Djakovic had 36-27 lead.

BC Galil Gilboa started strong the second half and with 9-2 run cut the deficit to only 2 points. The comeback of the hosts was completed when Schmuel Brenner scored with 03.47 to play in the third quarter and put his team up. Galil even took a 5-point advantage but the visitors scored the next 4 points and after 30 minutes the home side had a single point lead - 48-47.

Shortly after the start of the fourth quarter Djuro Djakovic retook the lead. This was one of the two times the team had it in the last period but both leads were by 1 point. The second one was in the middle of it but until the end of the game Galil stepped up the defense and secured the win. The team responded with a 11-2 run and decided the game leaving the visitors to score one free throw in the final seconds.

Three players scored in double digit for the hosts with Amit Simchon having 13 points. Nimrod Tishman added 12 points and 7 rebounds and Brandon Hunter had 11 and 7.

For the visitors Brice Massamba had a good game finishing with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Denis Toroman added 12 points and Marino Sarlija had 11 and 8 rebounds.
