BC Kavala stayed perfect in group B of EUROHOLD Balkan League. The newcomer in the competition won second straight game at home after defeating OKK Beograd 81-76. This means that BC Kavala will stay on top of the group while OKK lost for second week in a row. Next game for the team from Kavala is on October 30th when they will visit KK Kozuv while OKK will play the next day at KK Teodo.
The hosts started with very hot shooting and that helped them to take an early lead. BC Kavala pulled away after 9-2 start and soon they were up by double digits. The home side scored 10 of its first 12 field goals, including 4/4 three-pointers and went in front. At the end of the first quarter BC Kavala held on to a 28-16 lead.
In the second quarter the hosts continued to have the advantage and it never went in to a single digits. BC Kavala increased their lead to 18 points and were hanging on to it until the end of the first half. When it finished the hosts had more than good advantage - 47-30.
Early in the third quarter BC Kavala increased the lead to 20 points but soon OKK made a run and cut the deficit. That happenned with a 6-0 run for the team from Belgrade which made the score 56-43 for the hosts with 04.30 to go in the quarter. BC Kavala responded with a three-pointer but OKK scored the last six points of the quarter and it finished 59-49 for the hosts.
The team from Belgrade tried to make a comeback in the last quarter and continued to push the hosts. BC Kavala scored the first three points but then OKK made a 12-0 run and were right back in to the game. Soon the visitors tied the score and even took the lead with two minutes to go. BC Kavala responded with 6 points that turned out to be decisive and the hosts won second straight difficult game.
Nemanja Mitrovic and new signing Yannis Gagaloudis had 17 points apiece for the winners while 13 apiece added Chistoforos Stefanidis and William Coleman.
For the visitors 18 points scored both Aleksej Nesovic and Vladimir Popovic as Milos Pavlovic added 12.
