KK Djuro Djakovic with first win in group A

KK Djuro Djakovic won its first game in group A of this season EUROHOLD Balkan League. The team from Slavonski Brod played at home againts KK Mornar and took the victory after overtime, 85-79. This means that KK Mornar lost its third straight game and is on last place in the standings. Next week on November 7th KK Djuro Djakovic will visit KK Kumanovo 2009 while KK Mornar will host BC Levski Sofia.
 
Both teams started to fight for the win right from the first minute but KK Djuro was the one who took a lead. The hosts went up 14-7 but let the opponent cut the deficit to just 2 points. However the team from Slavonski Brod scored the final points in the first quarter which ended 17-12.
 
The visitors started very strong the second quarter and after 11-0 run took the lead by 6 points. Twice in the following minutes KK Mornar had a 9-point advantage but after the second time KK Djuro Djakovic responded with a 10-0 run to retake the lead. It didn′t last long as KK Mornar once again went in front and led 38-36 at the break.
 
The match was very even in the third quarter with both teams exchanging leads. However for most of the time KK Mornar was ahead but the visitors never led with more than 3 points. This was the story for that quarter and after the end of it the visitors from Bar were ahead 54-53.
 
KK Mornar started well in the last quarter and after scoring the first 5 points in it went up by 6. From then on the team had the lead until the final minute of the game but it was very close. With KK Mornar leading by a point in the final minute Matej Kljaic stepped to the free throw line and scored only one of his attempts. That tied the score and afterwards Lazar Radosavljevic missed a three-pointer which send the game to overtime with the score tied at 74. 
 
The hosts used the momentum from the regular time and scored the first 6 points in the extra period. From then on the team managed to hold on to its lead and the game was sealed with 46 seconds to go when Marko Bakovic scored a three pointer to make the difference 6 points.
 
Marino Sarlija was the top scorer for the winners with 20 points. Marko Batina was very good with 16 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds while Marko Bakovic added 15 points and 7 rebounds.
 
Andrej Pajovic was the best for the visitors with 21 points. Lazar Radosavljevic and Nikola Rondovic had 12 points apiece while Miroslav Damjanovic added 10.
