KK Kozuv with important home victory in group B

KK Kozuv took its second victory in group B of EUROHOLD Balkan League. The team from Gevgelija managed to erase the memory of last week′s defeat to Rilski Sportist and today won at home against BC Kavala 79-74. With this important win KK Kozuv is now tied with today′s opponent as both teams have 2-1 record. On October 6th Kozuv will visit KK Teodo in Tivat while next game for BC Kavala is against the team from Tivat a week later.
 
After an even start to the game KK Kozuv was the first team to break away and took a 16-8 lead with two minutes to play in the first quarter. BC Kavala though responded with a quick 5-0 run and cut the deficit. Later it became just two points and at the end of the first quarter the hosts were up 19-15.
 
With four minutes played in the second quarter BC Kavala managed to tie the game. The visitors though didn′t take the lead and Kozuv once again pulled away. The hosts took a 6 point advantage, Kavala cut it to 2 but later the team from Gevgelija went up by 10 points in the final minute of the first half. Then in the last second of it Petros Velissariou scored a three pointer and at the break KK Kozuv had 41-34 lead.
 
The hosts played very good third quarter and it was the important one for the victory. The team started strong in the second half and quickly built a double digit advantage. The lead of Kozuv reached 17 points at one point and even though Kavala cut it to 14, after the end of this quarter the hosts were up 67-53.
 
With seven minutes to play Kozuv looked good and the win was almost secured as the lead was up to 15 points. However the visitors didn′t give up and tried a come back. A 7-0 run put them just 3 points behind with little more than 2 minutes left on the clock. In the next offense the hosts responded with three pointer by Dimitar Karadjovski and they did hold on to the lead. With 4 seconds to go Pero Blazevski was fouled with his team leading by three points. He made both free throws and sealed the game for KK Kozuv.
 
Top scorer for the winners was Miladin Pekovic who finished with 25 points. Good game had Aleksandar Shterjov with 15 points and 8 rebounds as Vladimir Filipovic added 11 points.
 
For the visitors 19 points scored Christoforos Stefanidis. Nemanja Mitrovic finished the game with 15 while Bojan Krstevski had 11 points and 8 rebounds.
