Third straight victory for BC Galil Gilboa

BC Galil Gilboa took its third straight win in group A of EUROHOLD Balkan League. The current champions played at home against KK Kumanovo and won 81-61. Thanks to this vicrtory the team from Gan Ner remains on top of the standing while its opponent has 1-1 record. Next week on November 7th KK Kumanovo 2009 will host KK Djuro Djakovic while the team from Slavonski Brod will welcome BC Galil Gilboa a week later.
The hosts started very good in this game and took a 10-2 lead that later became 16-6. KK Kumanovo responded with a 7-0 run but once again the home side pulled away and held 23-16 advantage after ten minutes.
Both teams scored a lot in the second quarter and the hosts managed to keep their lead. First the visitors cut the deficit to only 4 points but later Galil restored the double digit advantage and went up by 12. The kept it in the next minutes but in the last one of the first half KK Kumanovo finished with a 7-0 run and after 20 minutes the hosts had 45-40 lead.
BC Galil Gilboa played very good third quarter which was the decisive one for the victory. The hosts still had a small lead in the middle of it as they were up 54-49. However they finished on a high and after 15-1 run the quarter ended with 69-50 in favour of the home side.
The last quarter didn′t offer anything as the hosts were in complete control of the game. They were holding on the their double digit lead and it was never in danger. At most it was 21 points and finally the game finished with 20 points difference between the two teams.
Good first game in the tournament had Jamar Smith who was the top scorer for the winners with 19 points. Amit Simchon and Brandon Hunter had 14 points apiece while Hunter added also 8 rebounds.
For the visitors very good game had Aleksandar Kostoski who finished with game high 25 points including 5 three-pointers. Uros Lukovic had double double in this match with 16 points and 11 boards.
