Third straight victory for Rilski Sportist

Third straight win in group B of EUROHOLD Balkan League recorded the team of Rilski Sportist (Samokov, BUL). The team hosted KK Kozuv (Gevgelija, MKD) and won 75-66. By this victory Rilski how holds a 3-1 record while Kozuv is 2-3. In the next matches Rilski will visit Teodo on November 21st while on the same day KK Kozuv is hosting OKK Beograd.

Rilski took off to a little better start and had a 10-4 lead in four minutes. The team continued to have the advantage in the next minutes but Kozuv was close and didn′t allow the hosts to pull away. The game was close until Rilski made a 5-0 run to make the difference 9 points before the visitors scored the last one in the quarter that finished 21-13 for the hosts.

The team from Samokov scored the first basket in the second and their lead went up for first time to 10 points. A quick 7-0 run for the visitors put cut their deficit to just 3 points but once again Rilski pulled away by 10. The hosts were hanging on to their lead and it didn′t exceed the 10-point difference. The last two in the quarter were for Kozuv and the first half finished 38-32 for Rilski.

The second half started with a three-pointer for the hosts that was given back right away by Dimitar Karadjovski. The game continued to be very tight and Kozuv was close to the home side. The team even had a chance to tie the score but Slobodan Bojovic′s three pointer didn′t go in. Later Lubomir Kirov scored two triples and that put Rilski up 53-44 with 2.15 minutes to play in the quarter. Later the home team′s lead went up to 12 points and at the end of the quarter Rilski led 60-49.

The last quarter started on a 9-0 run by the hosts and that closed the game with five minutes to play in it. In the last moments Rilski controlled the game and finished off the visitors.

Branko Mirkovic was the top scorer for the winners with 16 points. Terry Smith and Braxton Dupree also had good games with 12 points apiece.

For the visitors Slobodan Bojovic was the top scorer with 13 points. Aleksandar Shterjov and Vladimir Filipovic were the next best scorers with 10 points apiece.
