KK Djuro Djakovic and BC Levski to play the first game of the new year in EUROHOLD Balkan League
08-01-2013 | 08:25
Today will be played the first game of EUROHOLD Balkan League for 2013. Like the last one in 2012 - once again it involves the team of BC Levski. The Blues were victorious against KK Mornar at home before Christmas but now are playing away. KK Djuro Djakovic (Slavonski Brod, CRO) is host to BC Levski (Sofia, BUL) at 18.00 hrs local time and the game will be broadcasted live on Sportmedia.tv.
This game is very important for Djuro Djakovic as the team still has chance to go to Top 6. In order to do that the squad from Slavonski Brod must win tonight and then defeat Kumanovo in one week by at least 16 points. This will put the team through to the next phase but one loss will kill all the possibilities. The management of the team made some changes as there is a new coach in Neven Plantak. There are also new players in Hrvoje Puljko and Ivan Salamun while the team left Krunoslav Rimac, Denis Toroman and Brice Massamba. So far Marino Sarlija is top scorer of the team with 14.3 points while Marko Batina is averaging 12.8 per game.
Levski is already qualified for the next round but the team came with all of its top players despite having a derby game against Lukoil Academic on Saturday. However The Blues declared that they are going for the win and this may give us an interesting game. The previous one in Sofia was won very difficult by Levski as Djuro Djakovic showed some good play. So far Marko Marinovic is the top player for the team with 15.3 points and 5.8 assists per game while Nikolay Varbanov is averaging 14.0 points and 5.6 rebounds.
