Levski with big win against Rilski Sportist at home

Top 6 of EUROHOLD Balkan League started with a big home win for Levski. The Blues from Sofia won the local derby against Rilski Sportist after 84-62. Next game for Levski is on February 13th against Kavala away while a day before that Rilski Sportist will host Kumanovo 2009. After this win Levski has now 3-2 record while Rilski is 2-3.

Shortly after the start of the game Levski made a big 20-0 run and that put the team ahead by 18 points, 22-4. The hosts managed to keep their advantage in the following minutes and at the end of the first quarter it was 24-10. The lead of Levski continued to grow in the second quarter as well as it reached 24 points. The players of Rilski didn′t have an answer for the good defense played by the hosts and in those minutes it already seemed like they have no chance to win. After 20 minutes Levski had almost secured the win as the hosts were up 45-21.

The visitors started different in the second half and three and a half minutes in to it their deficit was down to 15 points. Soon it went down to 12 points and Rilski even had a chance to cut it more but missed it. Levski managed to keep its advantage big and after 30 minutes the team was up 65-50. In the last quarter Levski didn′t let the lead come down to single digits and finished off the game victorious.

Top scorer for the winners was Chavdar Kostov with 29 points. Nikolay Varbanov almost had a double double with 12 points and 9 rebounds as Hrisimir Dimitrov also had 12 points.
For the visitors Terry Smith had 26 points after a great second half. Hristo Zahariev scored 12 points while Braxton Dupree added 10 and 8 rebounds.
