Galil Gilboa with a very big step towards Final 4 after a great second half against Rilski Sportist

BC Galil Gilboa won its third game in a row in Top 6 of EUROHOLD Balkan League. The current champions had second victory in three days as they followed the one in Kavala with 104-79 beating of Rilski Sportist in Samokov. This gives Galil 5 wins and 3 losses in the second stage and almost at 100% qualifies the team for the Final 4. Until the end they have two games with the next one to be played in Tivat against Teodo on March 20th. On the other hand Rilski now has 3 wins and 4 defeats and lower chances for the final tournament. Next week the team visits Kumanovo 2009 and a defeat there will make the things even tougher for them.
Galil Gilboa had a very good first quarter and took a big lead. Both teams exchanged baskets at first but the visitors managed to make a 16-1 run that made the score 20-8 in their favour. They even increased the advantage to 15 points but Stanislav Vaklinov scored with the buzzer of the first quarter for the hosts to make the score 15-27.
Galil continued to have a good advantage in the second quarter as well as they went up 39-25. Then the home team went on a run of 10 straight points which brought them back in the game. The visitors didn′t let the lead slip away immediately but with 1.22 minutes to play in the half the score was tied at 44-44. Until the end of it both teams scored 4 points and it finished 48-48.
Rilski took off good in the second half by scoring the first 5 points but Galil Gilboa responded with 18-2 run to make it an 11-point game with 03.22 to play in the quarter. Until the end of it the visitors even managed to increase the advantage as Nimrod Tishman triple at the buzzer made it 15 points at 77-62. In the last ten minutes the game was practically over as the visitors had total control. They managed to increased further their advantage and sealed a good away victory.
Very good game for the winners had Rakim Sanders with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Shawn Taggart and Jamar Smith also played good and both scored 17 points.
For the home team Terry Smith and Branko Mirkovic had 15 points apiece.
