BC Galil Gilboa had a big 104-79 win away at Rilski Sportist in a game from Top 6 in EUROHOLD Balkan League. The team from Gan Ner had a great second half in which they were much better and here is what the head coaches had to say after the game:
Rosen Barchovski, head coach of BC Rilski Sportist: "We starter the third quarter with two baskets - in the best possible way, but after that the score in it is 29-14. We cannot play such a defense and without a fast break. They are strong and balanced team and we have difficulties with a 5 on 5 game. Second - we play against a different type of basketball, a different team physically and as a discipline.
I cannot say that we were tired from the games of the Cup, it′s easy. The fault is mine because I didn′t explain to the players, I didn′t train them to play against a different basketball. They won the rebounding battle because are trained like this and to fight for every ball. To get 10 offensive rebounds they have 100 attempts. We are not doing it even in practice. To advance to the Final 4 we have to win two games and we may do it even with one. For our level this season EUROHOLD Balkan League is difficult for us, it can be seen."
Lior Lubin, head coach of BC Galil Gilboa: "We are very happy that we won the game. We had a challenging week with a lot of games in the local league and in EUROHOLD Balkan League so it′s very difficult physically for us but I′m happy that we showed the right character especially in the second half when we came back, showed our skills and the way we want to play. It′s important win for us given also the fact that last year we lost here and that made it very special against a very good team. We know Rilski is a very good team, with very good players and good coach. We are very happy for the result.
First of all we are a young team and changed a lot of things. Also we were very fortunate to beat Levski at home because we improve and we get better every time and every week. Last time we played Levski here it was a tough game because we travelled, we played twice in three days and sometimes it influences as the players have certain amount of energy. Levski is a very good team but we didn′t have enough energy. It was a tough game for us and hopefully we learn from it.
Since I′m a coach for me nothing is assured. I saw many things that changed during the way. We still have to work hard the two games that we have left. One of them is at home which is always good to win and a tough away game againts Teodo. We want to win these games and qualify because we deserve it not because the other teams lost."
