Aleksandar Todorov: Being part of EUROHOLD Balkan League is helping Kumanovo 2009 and Kozuv

Aleksandar Todorov is the first head coach to lift the trophy of EUROHOLD Balkan League over his head. He was the coach of Rilski Sportist - the team that won the first edition of the tournament back in year 2009. Now Todorov is head coach of Bulgarian team Balkan and talked about the possibility of them playing in the tournament and also about the teams of Kumanovo 2009 and Kozuv. They met in the semifinal of the Macedonian cup and played a great game won by Kumanovo 2009. Then the team reached the final and was equal to the champion MZT Skopje but lost at the end. Here is what Todorov said about how participating in EUROHOLD Balkan League helps the two teams:
"According to a lot of people that know the basketball in the country the semifinal game between Kumanovo 2009 and Kozuv is the best game in the history. It was a match with a lot of points scored and in which Kumanovo came back from 20 points deficit to win. Then in the final against MZT nobody gave them a chance as it was expected for MZT to win by 25 points. However Kumanovo managed to play as equal for 38 minutes and against a team with 6-7 times higher budget. I think that the growing of Kumanovo and Kozuv in the local competitions is due mostly to the fact that they are playing in EUROHOLD Balkan League.
I can speak mostly about Kumanovo who are playing in Top 6 of the competition and it can be seen that their players, who are not too old, are playing with much more experience than last season. A year ago the team was an easy target for us at MZT Skopje and didn′t reach the semifinals in the Cup of in the championship. All this means that it is certain that EUROHOLD Balkan League is helping the team.
The executive director of Balkan - Mr. Tsvetan Lukanov was in Skopje for business reasons and we watched the semifinals with him. It′s normal that we are already talking about the next season as well. He even had a meeting with Sports Director of EUROHOLD Balkan League Mr. Shay Shtriks and Competition Manager Mr. Kamen Toshev and talked different subjects including a possible participation of Balkan in the tournament. I personally think that for the team to grow up it needs to play in a second competition. Of course first we have to finish the season the way we want to and of course to new gym in the city to be build. This are two conditions without which I don′t want to make any plans."
