Yesterday in Gevgelija BC Balkan defeated KK Kozuv 88-79 to record its first win of the new season. Here are a few quoter after the match:
Marjan Srbinoski, head coach of KK Kozuv: "Our game wasn′t bad, it was catastrophic. After five wins in a row my players thought that they are big stars and can win without much effort like they did in this game. This goes mostly for our play in defense which is not acceptable for a team like ours. I have to admit that we faced a good opponent. To receive 90 points at home is just too much. We have to learn how to accept defeats but not in a such way. We need to see how and where we made mistakes so we don′t repeat them in the future."
Aleksandar Todorov, head coach of BC Balkan: "We knew that two of the three defeats are not a real picture of the strength of our team. This goes mostly for our first game against Teodo and even for that one against Levski where we had a letdown in defense. After that match the players look determined to show to themselves, to the board of the club and to the basketball community that this is not their true face. I was sure that we would′ve played good in Gevgelija. Most of the guards of Kozuv have been my players and I knew how to stop them that are the most dangerous part of the team. I think that this was a game that we controlled 100% in the last 15 minutes."
Ivan Lilov, player of BC Balkan: "After the defeats in the last few games we needed to move forward. This game showed that there is some quality in Balkan. We played a good game where we had the lead for most of the time. We deserved to win."
