First win for Levski in the new season after a hard fought game with Peja

BC Levski (Sofia, BUL) recorded its first win of the season in EUROHOLD Balkan League. In the third round the team visited KB Peja (Peja, KOS) and won a hard fought game with a score 86-78 in front of 3 000 spectators. In the next round Levski will host KK Teodo while Peja will play away at Kumanovo 2009.

Levski started the game better and led in the first quarter and at one point even by 8 points. With a triple right at the end Peja cut the deficit to 4 but still the visitors didn′t give up on the lead also in the second quarter. In the last six minutes of it they allowed the hosts to score just 2 points while Levski had 8 and after 20 minutes the guest had a 9-point advantage.

The Blues controlled the game in the third quarter and had a good advantage until the last three minutes. In that time Peja made an 8-0 run and tied the score heading in to the last quarter. It started with exchanged baskets before Levski scored two triples in a row to move ahead. Then the margin became 10 points but the hosts cut it down to 2 with a quick 8-0 run. Levski responded with two baskets before Peja had the chance to tie it. The hosts however missed a triple and in the final seconds the visitors kept the lead for the win.

Nikolay Varbanov was the top scorer for the winners with 20 points as Dimitar Anguelov scored 19. For the home team Fred House had 17 points while George Odufuwa added 13.
