Galil Gilboa moved to the top with a victory against Balkan
23-01-2014 | 01:03
Galil Gilboa is now the leader in EUROHOLD Balkan League. The current champions defeated Balkan 97-83 at home and now stand at a 7-2 record. This is good enough for a tie for the first place with Kumanovo but Galil has a game in hand. Balkan on the other side remain second from bottom with a 3-5 record but the team also has fewer games and is still with a good chance to reach at least the Top 6.
The home team led in the first minutes but they couldn′t pull away. In the second quarter they were up by 7 points but Balkan cut its deficit as it was only 3 at the break. With two straight triples in the third quarter Balkan took a 1-point advantage and few minutes later it was the same. However Galil responded with a 10-0 run to pull away and after 30 minutes the difference became 14 points which was enough to finish off the game.
Gerald Robinson was the top scorer for the winners with his 22 pints. Stu Douglass had 14 as 13 and 6 rebounds added DeShawn Sims.
For the visitors Ivan Lilov finished with 17 points while Pavel Marinov had 17 and 5 rebounds.
