Another comeback win for Levski

BC Levski recorded its third straight win in EUROHOLD Balkan League. It was another dramatic as The Blues had to come from behind to defeat KK Kozuv away by a score of 73-68. Levski won its previous two games after being down by 10 or more points and this time managed to do it once again. With this victory Levski moved to the top of the standings with a 7-3 record but with a game more than Galil Gilboa. Kozuv on the other hand is holding to the 5th position with 4 wins and 6 defeats. Next week Levski will host KB Peja while on Febryary 11th Kozuv will visit SCM U Craiova.

The home team started very well and led 9-2 and 14-4 in the first minutes. Then Levski scored the last 5 points of the first quarte to cut the deficit to 6 and in the second they came to just a single points. However Kozuv responded with an 11-2 run and suddenly went up as at the break the difference was 9 points.

In the middle of the third quarter the hosts were looking good as they were up by 12 points. However Levski finished it on a 13-2 run and once again cut the deficit to a single point. Then the fourth quarter started on a 6-0 run for Kozuv but the visitors once again managed to come back and first they tied the game and then took the lead with a triple by Ventsislav Petkov. With two minutes left the score was tied again but with 01.30 to play Nikolay Varbanov made two free throws and put the visitors ahead. Then Kozuv missed twice a chance to score and Jumaine Jones rebounded a miss and made a basket to give Levski a 4-point lead which was held in the final 38 seconds.

Lionel Chalmers was the top scorer for the winners with 21 points. Nikolay Varbanov had 20 and 11 rebounds as Jumaine Jones added 11 and 8.

For the home team Dimitar Karadjovski finished with 22 points as he was the only player to score in double digits. Miladin Pekovic added 9 points as 8 apiece scored Slobodan Bozovic and Aleksandar Sterjov.
