The Mad March in EUROHOLD Balkan League
22-02-2014 | 13:20
A Mad month of March is fast approaching EUROHOLD Balkan League. This is what we are expecting in the next month due to the fact that all the teams are still fighting to get a spot in the Top 6. All the nine teams are still in the race and because of this we should expect a wild month of March when every game will be very important. Here is a run down of what each team still has to play and what the chances are:BC Levski - 8 (wins) - 5 (losses)
Games to play - KK Kumanovo 2009 (away), BC Balkan (home) and KB Sigal Prishtina (away)
Levski is currently in first place but has one more game than Sigal and two more than Galil. However The Blues are almost guaranteed a place in the Top 6 but their aim is to be in the top 2 places and qualify directly for the Final 4. To do so they need at least two wins and one of them needs to be against KB Sigal Prishtina in the last round.
KB Sigal Prishtina - 7-5
Games to play: KB Peja (away), KK Kozuv (home), SCM U Craiova (away), BC Levski (home)
Sigal is holding to the second place right now but with a game more than Galil Gilboa. The team from Kosovo will have two very tough away games as the team will try to get to that second position but a lot will depend on the results Sigal gets prior to that match with Levski. With at least two wins in those three games Sigal′s chances will be good but then they′ll have to defeat Levski as well.
SCM U Craiova - 6-7
Games to play: BC Galil Gilboa (away), BC Balkan (home), KB Sigal Prishtina (home)
SCM U Craiova needs three wins in order to hope to be in one of the top two positions but even this may not be enough. However if the team wins its two home games the spot in the quarterfinal will be guaranteed and this will be the aim for Craiova in the next rounds.
BC Galil Gilboa - 7-4
Games to play: SCM U Craiova (home), KK Kumanovo 2009 (home), KB Peja (home), KK Kozuv (home)
The current double champions are the team with the fewest losses in the league so far. They are in fourth place but only because they have two games less than the leaders Levski but despite that fact Galil seems the favourite to get one of the top two positions. The team has five games left, four of which are at home. If Galil doesn′t lose its home matches the team is certain for a top 2 position and a direct place in the Final 4. It can happen even with two defeats overall but it will depend on the other results as well.
KB Peja - 6-6
Games to play: KB Sigal Prishtina (home), KK Teodo (away), BC Galil Gilboa (away), BC Balkan (away)
In recent weeks Peja had some very good results and the team is now very close to Top 6. However the champions of Kosovo have a very tough schedule ahead of them with only one home game. In order to have a chance they need to win it and then will try to get at least one away victory which should be enough to get them to the quarterfinals.
KK Kumanovo 2009 - 6-6
Games to play: KK Teodo (home), BC Galil Gilboa (away), BC Levski (home), KK Kozuv (away)
Kumanovo started very good the season but injuries in recent weeks slowed the team down. However the Macedonians are still in with a chance to go to Top 6 and wins in their home games should be enough to do that. This is what Kumanovo will try to do in the next weeks and the chances of going to the quarterfinals are not small.
BC Balkan - 6-5
Games to play: SCM U Craiova (away), BC Galil Gilboa (home), KK Teodo (home), BC Levski (away), KB Peja (home)
Balkan has a chance of even reaching one of the top two positions. The teams still has five games to play and with five wins the top 2 is guaranteed. Balkan is still the only team without a loss at home and if they keep that record until the end, a place in the quarterfinals is certain. This is the minimum aim for the team from Botevgrad but if they have a shot at attacking the first two position, they will try it.
KK Kozuv - 4-8
Games to play: KK Teodo (home), KB Sigal Prishtina (away), KK Kumanovo 2009 (home), BC Galil Gilboa (away)
Kozuv started very well but since has suffered seven straight defeats which practically almost killed the team′s chance to reach at least the Top 6. Of course the possibilities remain but the team from Gevgelija needs to win at least three of its last four matches. Even this may not be enough but will give the team a small chance. With four wins in the last four games Kozuv will almost certainly enter the quarterfinals.
KK Teodo - 4-8
Games to play: KK Kozuv (away), KK Kumanovo (away), KB Peja (home), BC Balkan (away)
Teodo started the season with a win but then suffered eight straight defeats. Now the team is on a run of three straight home wins but from the games left, only one is at home. This is making the chances very slim but they still remain. Next week is very crucial for Teodo as if the team can win twice in Macedonia the chances of going to Top 6 will once again come back. Teodo is not out of the race but it will be very tough for the team.
