Levski defeated Balkan and set up a big match with Sigal Prishtina next week

BC Levski will fight with KB Sigal Prishtina for the second place in EUROHOLD Balkan league′s regular season next week. Today The Blues from Sofia defeated BC Balkan 98-94 at home in an interesting and entertaining game and are once again tied with Sigal for the second place with 10 wins and 5 defeats. Both teams will meet in Prishtina next week to decide the second direct qualifier for the Final 4. Balkan on the other had now have 8-7 record and will finish the regular season at home against KB Peja next week. The team is qualified for the Top 6 and will finish in 4th place the regular season.
Both teams were scoring a lot in the first quarter and none could take a big lead. Balkan went in front by 3 points when a good shooting by Ivan Lilov who scored three straight triples helped them. However Levski came back to take the lead after ten minutes and in the second quarter continued to have the advantage. With a 10-2 for Levski, The Blues′s lead went up to 12 points and they kept the double digit advantage until the end of the first half that came at 10.
Balkan started great the second half and with a 17-6 run in the first five minutes managed to take the lead. It came after a Tencho Tenchev triple and after that the good three-point shooting continued. Peter Sedmak scored two in a row to give the visitors a 7-point advantage but after 30 minutes Levski managed to cut it to 4.
Two straight three-pointers by Tenchev helped the visitors build a 7-point advantage. In the next minutes the visitors continued to have the lead as Levski was close but couldn′t overtake them. That happend with 02.08 to go when the hosts went up by a points then both teams exchanged baskets. With 01.07 to play Brandon Heath scored two free throws to give Levski a 2-point advantage but Stanimir Marinov tied the score immediately. Heath once again scored two free throws with 39.4 to play and after that Logan Stutz missed a triple. Then Heath once again was fouled and he hit the free throws to seal the victory.
Balkan shot very good from three-point range and hit 16 of 37 attempts while Levski was 7 of 13.
Brandon Heath was the top scorer for the winners with 30 points as he also added 6 assists and 4 rebounds. Hristo Zahariev had 17 points while 12 apiece scored Lionel Chalmers and Mike Wilkinson.
For the visitors 20 points and 13 rebounds had Logan Stutz. Tencho Tenchev scored six triples from seven attempts to finish with 18 points as 15 apiece had Peter Sedmak and Ivan Lilov.
