Israeli League proposed an idea to have four teams in EUROHOLD Balkan League

Last week The Sports Director of EUROHOLD Balkan League - Mr. Shay Shtriks, was in Israel where he met with the CEO of Israeli League Mr. Edli Marcus. He proposed a very interesting idea to register four Israeli teams in the competiton which will play the first stage only between themselves. Then the top two teams will join the others in the second stage.
 
The idea is more than interesting and Mr. Marcus already spoke with Mr. Jordi Bartomeu - CEO of Euroleague, about it. He gave his blessing for it because it is a good way for developing the local teams. He recognized that the organization in EUROHOLD Balkan League is very professional and will be more than happy if that happens.
 
The Israeli League will have a Board meeting where the idea will be presented to the teams. The general opinion however is that it′s going to work.
 
The other meeting Mr. Shtriks had was with the local federation which also has no objections regarding this idea. Still the decision which teams to play in Europe is taken by the Israeli League and not the federation.
 
The federation though would like to register at least two junior teams to play in Junior Balkan League including the Israel Academy. EUROHOLD Balkan League also has a request by Mr. Shimon Mizrahi - Chairman of Maccabi Tel Aviv, to have his junior team in the competition. This is also the place to congratulate Maccabi for winning the Euroleague.
 
In any case next season in EUROHOLD Balkan League there will be between one and four teams from Israel. The League will continue to support the Balkan teams and referees with the flights to Israel.
