Rilski Sportist returned with home victory

BC Rilski Sportist returned to EUROHOLD Balkan League with a win. The team from Samokov defeated the debutants KK Sutjeska 78-68 in front of the home fans. The game was interesting as the visitors fought hard but in the end Riletso took the victory. Next week Rilski will host Teodo while Sutjeska will play at home versus Peja.

It was an even start to the game before an 8-0 run by Rilski near the end of the first quarter put the team up by 9 points. Sutjeska scored back a single point but the second quarter started with two baskets for the hosts making the difference 12 points. The visitors responded with a 12-1 run and until the break the game was even.

In the second half the visitors cut the deficit to 1 points but Rilski once again took a 10-point advantage. However the visitors managed to bounce back and cut their deficit while it went down to 3 at the start of the fourth quarter. Then Rilski made an 11-3 run to take a 12-point lead which was enough for the victory.

Tony Gugino, Yordan Bozov and Ian Chiles had 16 points apiece for the winners.

For the visitors Nikola Pavlicevic had 19 points.
