Second straight victory for Rilski Sportist in another EUROHOLD Balkan League drama

Rilski Sportist won second straight game in group A of EUROHOLD Balkan League. In another dramatic game in the competition the team from Samokov defeated KK Teodo 83-81 at home. Both squads fought very hard from start to finish but in the end the hosts converted better. Next week Teodo will visit KB Peja and then Rilski will hosts the same team.

In the first quarter Rilski started better and took a 9-point lead. The visitors however managed to quickly come back in the game and cut the deficit. In the second quarter they took the lead for the first time and led for most of it. Teodo scored the last 4 points before the break and took advantage.

Shortly after the start of the second half Rilski scored two triples and went ahead. At one point the lead went to 8 points but two quick triples by the visitors cut the deficit. After 30 minutes the hosts advantage was only 3 points but with two baskets in less than a minute at the start of the fourth, Teodo took the lead. Rilski though responded with a 6-0 run but then the visitors made the same. Then both teams exchanged baskets before Rilski took a 4-point lead thanks to the good play by Tony Gugino. Then Teodo cut the deficit to 1 but Bozov scored back to put Rilski up by 3. Both teams missed twice in their next possessions and with 9 seconds to go Mijovic scored two free throws to close the gap to a single point. Simeon Iliev did the same for the hosts and after Teodo were whistled for 5 seconds inbounds violation and it was the end for the team′s hopes.
