A great start to the second quarter leads Kozuv to first win of the season

KK Kozuv recorded its first win of the season in SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League. The team from Gevgelija hosted BC Beroe in a group A game and won 91-80 after taking over in the second quarter and never looking back after that. They started it with a big run and led until the end while stopping all visitors attempts to make a comeback. With this victory Kozuv is now third with 1-2 record and it was an important one against its direct opponent to reach directly the Second Stage. Beroe on the other side is with three straight defeats and will look to defeat the Macedonian side by more at home to take the overall advantage. Kozuv′s next game is away against Mornar while Beroe will host Mornar on December 8th.   It was an even start to the game with the visitors finishing strong the first quarter and taking a 7-point lead. The second though was a completely different story as Kozuv started it with 18-0 run to take the lead for good. Until the break they increased their advantage to 17 points and only in the second quarter had one point less than Beroe had for the whole first half - 35 to 36.   The visitors tried to change things after the break and with an 8-0 run cut the deficit to 9. Then it went down to 6 but its was the lowest Beroe could get. With Kozuv once again taking a lead of 16 points the visitors cut it to 6 another two times but the hosts stopped each one of their attempts to get closer.   Both teams shot a lot of three-pointers with Beroe making 14 from 33 tries while Kozuv having 11 of 25. The hosts however were 23 from 39 for 2 points while the visitors had only 16 successful from 35 attempts.   Aleksej Nesovic had a very good game for the winners with 23 points and 7 assists. Brandon Penn once again was one of the best performers with his 18 points and 9 rebounds while Aleksand Sterjov had 14 and 8.   For the visitors Tihomir Zhelev came off the bench and put a stat line of 20 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds as Auston Barnes had 14 points and 9 rebounds.
