Superb second quarter takes Bashkimi to the Second Stage
KB Bashkimi are now 100% through to the Second Stage in SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League. The team from Prizren defeated KK Lovcen Basket 95-61 at home and finished group B with 5 wins and 3 losses. This will put them either second or third in it and now qualified them for the next phase. Lovcen on the other side will finish the group in 5th place regardless of the result in their final game against Peja next week. This means that the Montenegrin team will play in the Qualification Round for the Second Stage.
Lovcen played better in the first quarter and even had 7-point lead at one moment. The hosts still responded well and managed to cut the deficit to only 1 after ten minutes but in the second quarter things changed. Bashkimi exploded and practically finished off their opponents. The hosts scored 32 points in that period and played great defense by allowing only 2. This meant that at the break they had 29-point advantage and in the second half the hosts controlled the lead and had no trouble.
The biggest difference between the teams was in the turnovers. The hosts made 14 compared to 27 for Lovcen. Bashkimi though had 18 steals to only 4 for the visitors. The home team′s advantage in fast break points was very very big - 28 to 0.
Marcel Jones had another big game for Bashkimi finishing with 32 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Granit Rugova finished with 20 points while Theron Bussey added 18 and 6 assists.
The visitors were led by Ratko Petric and Mikaile Tmusic who both had 11 points while Aleksandar Milic added 10 and 8 rebounds.
