Levski 2014 is through to the Second Stage

BC Levski 2014 is through to the Second Stage in SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League. The team from Sofia defeated KK Lovcen Basket 91-77 in the second day of the Qualification for Top 8 and due to the big point difference they cannot finish worst than second place in the tournament. On the third day Lovcen will play Beroe and will have to win by 13 in order to advance. Levski finished with +4 point diference which gives them a positive point differential.

Lovcen took a quick 7-3 lead but Levski answered with 6-0 run. The Montenegrins however used their size advantage and scored the next 9 points to take a 7-point lead as at the end of the first quarter they were up by 6. The difference remained the same in the first minutes of the second quarter as then Lovcen made another 9-0 run to go up by 15. Levski finally responded by scoring 8 in a row and they remained close almost until the end of the half. However they left Milos Latkovic wide open in the final seconds and he scored from the center of the court to give Lovcen 9-point advantage heading in to the break.

Levski erased the deficit in a quick fashion after scoring the first 9 points of the second half. Then both teams exchanged baskets but Levski managed to make a 7-0 run which broke a tie game. Lovcen cut the deficit to 3 but then Levski finished the third quarter on a 10-0 run to go up by 13. Shortly before the middle of the quarter the lead reached 20 points and although Lovcen tried to close the gap to single digits, The Blues managed to keep it over and qualified.

Aleks Simeonov was the top performer for the winners with double double of 35 points and 10 rebounds. Ventsislav Petkov added 12 points while Yordan Minchev finished with 9, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

For Lovcen Aleksandar Milic finished with 16 points while Milos Latkovic scored 14 and dished out 5 assists.
