Domestic leagues: Important win for Beroe, defeat for Levski 2014
BC Beroe recorded a very important win at the start of the third stage in Bulgarian league. The team from Stara Zagora visited BC Balkan and won 80-72. This was second win for Beroe against the same opponent as they defeated them last Sunday to take the Cup bronze medals.
Beroe took a 3-point lead at the break but after 12-0 run for Balkan in the third quarter the hosts went up by 3. Beroe however didn′t stop fighting and took 6-point lead with not long to go which was enough for them.
Aleksandar Todorovic finished with 18 points for the win as Evrik Gary added 16.
Levski 2014 however suffered a hard loss at the hands of champions Lukoil Academic. The Blues were hosts but never managed to catch up with them and lost 69-100. The visitors took early control taking a 20-5 lead and cruised on the rest of the way.
Ventsislav Petkov finished with 20 points and 7 steals for Levski as Stanislav Slaveykov and Angel Peychinov both scored 16 points.
Beroe is sitting in fourth place with 13 wins and 6 defeats while Levski is 7th with 6-13 record.
