Very important win for Mornar in Stara Zagora

KK Mornar recorded a very important win in group C of SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League. The team from Bar visited BC Beroe in a must win match and they took 87-68 victory. By losing the home side missed a big chance to qualify for the semifinal and now will have to win both of its games until the end in order to have a chance. The same however goes for Mornar as well as both teams have 2-2 record so far. Next week Beroe will host Teodo while Mornar will travel to Prizren to meet Bashkimi.

Given the importance of the match it was expected that both teams would start slowly and so it happened as in nearly six minutes the score was tied at 7. The visitors were the first one to make a break and took a 6-point advantage but Beroe responded with a 9-2 run and then first quarter finished with the score tied. In the first minutes of the second both teams exchanged basket before the visitors made a 7-0 run to go up by 9. then Mornar managed to keep the difference and 67 seconds before the break Marko Mijovic made it 12 points with his fourth triple of the period. Then the hosts missed twice and after the visitors responded with 5-0 run for 17 points lead. With 3 seconds to go Barnes was fouled and made one free throw to set the margin at 16 points in favour of Mornar.

Just before the middle of the third period the hosts cut the deficit to 9 points. Then the lead went down to 8 but Mornar responded by making a 6-0 run to restore its double digit advantage and keep it until the end of the quarter. In the fourth one the visitors didn′t give any chance to Beroe and controlled the match until the end.

Marko Mijovic was the top scorer for the winners with 22 points including five triples. Balsa Radunovic and Lamont Jones scored 18 apiece as the visitors had five players in double digits.

For the home side Aleksandar Todorovic had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds as Ashton Moore scored 13 points.
