On focus: Marko Mijovic
The point guard of KK Mornar - Marko Mijovic is one of the players with biggest experience playing in the Balkan League. The Montenegrin had a few seasons with KK Teodo and from that start of the current one he is playing for the team from Bar. Mijovic has always shown great p?ssing ability and not in the last place, he can also score the ball. With the following we would like to present Mijovic in a little bit more:
- How did you decide to start playing basketball, at what age did you start and what are your first memories from the game?
- I started playing basketball when I was 9 years old in my school. My teacher from Pero Blazevic loved basketball and was my first coach. He conveyed the love of the game to me. My first club was a basketball club Bar and there I made first basketball steps and fell in love with the game even more.
- When did u feel that you are going to be a professional player and who′s the person that helped your career the most?
- As the year p?ssed I dreamed to become professional basketball player. My father was always taking me to watch the games of the big clubs in Montenegro and I wanted to be a part of it. He is one of the main culprits for the reason to become a basketball player. I had his support in this. A great impact on my career had also Pero Blazevic and my current coach Djoko Pavicevic who gave me the opportunity to play in BC Mornar. Here I signed my first professional contract.
- You have a lot of experience playing in the Balkan League. How do you think the competition has developed over the years?
- This is my fourth year playing in the Balkan League. It′s becoming more serious every year and is well organized. For clubs and the players, playing in the Balkan League means a lot. There is an experience which is one of the prerequisites for the success.
- Your team started the season very well but now is in a different position - how do you rate your chances of going to the semifinals?
- We′ve done a good job in the first part of the competitoin as we were the first in the group. This second part didn′t have the start we expected as we experienced an unexpected defeat. We are in a difficult situation but we still have a chance. It all depends on us. We will do our best in the coming games and I sincerely hope that we can win a place in the semifinals. That′s our goal.
- You also made some changes to the roster - generally how do rate your season in BIBL so far?
- We had some changes in a team. At the beginning of the year we brought new players and it takes time to show their quality. As for my performances in the Balkan league I am satisfied, but always I want to be better. Our goal is to get into the semifinals because we have the quality to do so. If the opportunity arises we would also like to play in the final. That would be a phenomenal success for our team.
- You are doing very well in Montenegrin league and you have no defeats. What has been the key to that success and what do you think about your performance in the Cup finals? What are your goals in the local league?
- We have big ambitions in the national league. We are in first place and we want to keep it that way until the end. We want to play in the finals with the best club in Montenegro - BC Buducnost. A few days ago we played the final of the National Cup. against them and we lost although it was close. We showed that we can play with them.
- Tell us a few words what does Marko Mijovic likes to do outside the court - when he doesn′t have a practice or a game...
- As a professional player I have very little free time. I spend it with friends. I also love to read books and watch movies.
