Kozuv overcomes slow start to win in Sofia and reach the semifinals

KK Kozuv is through to BIBL semifinals for second straight season. The team from Gevgelija overcame a slow start to defeat BC Levski 2014 82-73 away and to finish in second place in group D. Kozuv finished with 3 wins and 3 defeats which was good enough to qualify and not to check the result in the other game in Peja. For Levski it was the fifth straight loss and the team finished fourth in the group with 1-5 record. 

Levski got off to a great start and led 16-2 after the first seven minutes. In this first quarter Kozuv never found its rhythm and after a triple at the buzzer the hosts took a 17-point advantage. The visitors scored just 6 points in those ten minutes, all of them by Aleksej Nesovic. Steadily the visitors started coming back in the game. With Levski leading by 16 Kozuv made a decent 10-0 run in four minutes to close the gap to only 6. Then both teams exchanged points and the difference remained the same after 20 minutes.

The second half started on a 6-0 run for Kozuv who finally tied the score. With 6.43 to play in the third quarter the visitors also took a 1-point advantage. They didn′t stop here as in the first five minutes after the break they made 15-2 run to suddenly lead by 7 points. Levski tried to stay close but the team didn′t fight the rhythm it had in the first quarter. A bit later after two triples by Ryan White and one Goran Glavchev free throw the difference reached 12. After the end of the quarter it was 11 as White scored a triple at the buzzer. Then in the fourth quarter the visitors held the difference around 10 and it was enough to take the victory. 

Brandon Penn was the top performer for the winners with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Aleksej Nesovic had 14 points and 7 assists while Stojan Gjuroski added 13 points. 

Stanislav Slaveykov was the top scorer for Levski with 22 points while Angel Peychinov had 13 coming off the bench.
