The 9th edition of SIGAL-UNIQA-BALKAN League will be a great one!

We are just one day away from the start of the new season in SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League. Tomorrow evening SK Tirana will host KB Trepca in the Opening game of the competition which will consist of 12 teams. Before the season starts, the Sports Director - Mr. Shay Shtriks, had this to say to all the participants and fans:

"Dear Basketball fans, players, coaches and basketball lovers,

This week we start the 9th edition of SIGAL-UNIQA-Balkan League season.

All of us are very excited and waiting for the first jump ball that will take place on Monday 10.10.2016 in Tirana with the game SK Tirana vs KB Trepca. The two newest teams that join BIBL.

This season we have three new clubs and three that returned after a season of absence. To SK Tirana, KB Trepca, KK Karpos Sokoli 2000, MKK Feni Industries, KK Kumanovo 2009 and KK Sutjeska,  I would like to say welcome to the BIBL family and good luck!

To the rest six teams: the champion – KB Sigal Prishtina, and BC Beroe, KB Bashkimi, KB Peja, KK Kozuv and KK Teodo I would like to say we are happy that you trust our competition and you continue with us in our 9th season.

The 9th season of SIGAL-UNIQA-Balkan League will be very strong and interesting. We did not change the system in 1st stage and 2nd stage. However the Third stage and Semifinals changed and will provide better and fair possibility to the clubs which will qualify to the final stages. The 2 final games will stay the same as the last 2 seasons, as it was proved that like this we provide a very strong, quality final basketball and sport event. The new system will make the league very interesting and gives equal possibility to all the clubs to play until the last round. There are total of 86 games where each team will have at least 10 games and those that will qualify to Final up to 20 games.  

12 teams from 5 countries - this is the strongest part of the SIGAL-UNIQA-Balkan League. We have 1 new country  – Albania, which will join the other 4 countries - Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia and Montenegro. We will continue with our very good cooperation with all five Basketball federations and as we are doing it from day one, with FIBA.

We will continue to support young referees and with the senior and experienced referees have from all the countries, the games will be officiated in the most honest and clean way.

Our people will work as until now to support the teams and to provide to all the basketball fans an interesting and strong basketball League.

Again I would like to say big thank you to our main sponsor SIGAL-UNIQA that trusts us and continue to support the Balkan League and they have shown the second year that they are our best and very important partner.

To all other sponsors and partners, I would like to say also thank you, we are sure that you are seeing good and quality result from our partnership.      

This season the way to the final games which will be played on 11.04.2017 and 20.04.2017 will be long, quite challenging and difficult. All the teams have the equal start, possibility and quality. 

To all of them I would like to wish good, fair and quality games and most importantly - to keep the sport and clean way during all the season.
