Karpos Sokoli finished strong for a third win

KK Karpos Sokoli 2000 recorded its third win in group B. The Skopje team hosted KB Peja and in a very interesting and intense game took 82-75 victory. The match was decided in the final minutes when a good run by the home side let them pull away and finish off the opponent. Karpos is keeping its chances of reaching the Second Stage with 3-5 record and two games left. Peja is now at 3-2 but also has a few postponed matches. The next one for the team is next week away at Sutjeska while Karpos will visit Tirana on January 17th.

 

Karpos had a great start to the game and scored the first 10 points. Step by step the visitors began to play better and cut the deficit. After a triple by Rundles in the second period they tied the score but then Karpos made a quick 5-0 run. The hosts led until the break, the advantage reached 7 points but Rundles hit a three-pointer from the center court with the buzzer and again closed the gap. 

 

Quickly after the second half started the visitors tied the score and after that the teams started exchanging points. That continued until the end of the third period after which Peja led by 1. A 6-0 run in the fourth put Karpos up by 4 with 5:33 to go but then Veseli scored 5 in a row. Mavra however responded with the same and after he assisted Vrkic the lead reached 6 with 2:40 to play. Finally the game was decided with 1.22 left when Labovic scored under the basket to make the difference 9 points after which there was no comeback. 

 

The top scorer for the winning team was Dragan Labovic with 19 points. Zoran Vrkic and Dominik Mavra also did well by scoring 15 apiece.


Noah Dahlman had a very good game for the visitors finishing with 26 points. Alban Veseli also did well with 20 and 6 rebounds as Cameron Rundles had 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
