Kozuv holds on to stop the run of five defeats

KK Kozuv is back on the winning ways in group A of SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League. The Gevgelija team hosted KK Teodo and won 81-76 after a very hard fought game. Both teams offered a physical match-up and played with a great desire for a victory. In the end however the home side managed to hold on and to stop its run of five straight defeats. With that result Kozuv is now wit 2-5 record while Teodo is at 3-4 and will host KB Sigal Prishtina next week.

The teams exchanged baskets early before five straight points for Kozuv put the team up. Teodo however responded to hold 1-point lead after ten minutes and early in the second period the score was tied. Then the visitors hit 7 straight points to regain the advantage but Kozuv this time answered with a 12-2 run. The hosts though couldn′t hold on to the advantage and after the visitors finished the half on a 7-1 run they went up by 3.

A 12-2 run for Kozuv shortly after the third quarter started gave the team an 8-point edge. After the hosts managed to keep a good advantage which after 30 minutes was at 5. The teams stayed close in the fourth period with Kozuv leading but not by much. Teodo came to just a point but couldn′t turn the score and with 3:13 to play Mijovic hit a very important triple to put the hosts up by 7.  The visitors managed to close some of the gap and to have a chance but the home side executed whet it mattered and held on for the victory.

At the end the difference between the two teams turned out to be the 3-point shooting. The hosts scored 11 from 24 attempts while Teodo had 9 of 25.

A very good game for the winners had Kenyon McNeail who finished with 31 points and 5 assists. Nikola Djurasovic did well coming off the bench with 15 points as Larry Hall added 13, 9 assists and 8 rebounds.

Milan Stanojevic was the top scorer for the visitors with 22 points. Milos Djurisic also did well with 18 and 4 assists as Nikola Vucurovic scored 16 coming off the bench.
