Two in a row for Akademik
BC Akademik Bultex 99 recorded its second straight win in SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League.
The Plovdiv team celebrated its international home debut with good performance and nice 90-69 win over SK Tirana.
The hosts controlled the game since the end of the first quarter and thanks to their hot shooting managed to have no trouble. Next week Akademik will visit Kumanovo while Tirana will be looking for its first win against Bashkimi at home.
The visitors started well by scoring the first 6 points of the game and they led for some time. Steadily though the home side got close and then took the lead. In the second quarter they increased the advantage and although Tirana started the third period good, they never could threathen their opponent.
Akademik′s hot shooting was a key for the success. The hosts scored 17 triples out of 32 attempts as the visitors had 5 of 19.
Shakir Smith was the top scorer for the win with 19 points. Isiah Umipig also did good with 16 points as Vasil Bachev added 14.
Tirana was led by Endrit Hysenagolli and Jalil Abdul-Bassit who had 20 points apiece.
