Good first half gives Rilski another win
BC Rilski Sportist recorded its 9th win in SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League. The Samokov team hosted SK Tirana and took 94-79 victory after taking a big lead in the first half. That result means that Rilski will continue the fight for the first position as already before the game the team secured its Final Four place. Tirana on the other side has just one more match left against KK Ibar and it will be a direct battle for the playoffs.
The first basket in the game was for the visitors but then Rilski responded with a 10-0 run. Tirana however bounced back and even managed to take a 1-point lead but a 7-0 finish to the first period gave the hosts a 6-point edge. The second quarter belonged to Darin Ivanov. The point guard made all five of his 3-point attempts and thanks to his shooting the difference at the break reached 15 points. In the second half Rilski controlled the difference and was never really threathened.
Rilski scored 12 triples from 26 attempts while Tirana was just 5 of 15 which made the difference.
Travis Taylor was the top scorer for the winners with 17 points. Darin Ivanov added 16 points as Martin Marinov had 15 and 4 assists.
The visitors were again led by Endrit Hysenagolli had 27 points and 10 rebounds. Jalil Abdul-Bassit and Charles Strowbridge had 12 points apiece.
