Domestic cups: Good advantage for Levski Lukoil and Akademik Bultex 99
Levski Lukoil took a good advantage after the first semifinal leg of Bulgarian Cup against Balkan. The Blues won 73-62 and will have the lead before the return leg in Botevgrad on Saturday.
Both teams started really slow as Balkan led 13-8 after ten minutes. In the second quarter Levski improved in defense and offense and thanks to a 10-0 run went up by 10. In the second half the hosts controlled the game and although the visitors closed the gap to just 6 points, Levski responded and won by a good margin.
Hristo Nikolov had 19 points and 8 rebounds for the win as Bozhidar Avramov added 17 points.
Akademik Bultex 99 defeated Rilski Sportist 98-86 away to gain a great advantage before the second game at home, The Plovdiv side started better and after just four minutes had a double digit lead. They kept it for a long time before Rilski made an 8-1 run to close the gap to just 2 at the end of the third period. In the fourth though Akademik again managed to pull away and recorded a very good victory.
Dimitar Dimitrov had 22 points for the winners as Vasil Bachev added 21. For Rilski 16 points and 7 assists had Derek Wright while Dimitar Marincheshki had 14 points.
