Akademik won the derby in Samokov, easy for Levski
BC Akademik Bultex 99 recorded an important away win in Bulgarian league. The Plovdiv team defeated BC Rilski Sportist 78-74 away to make things at the top even more complicated.
After a good second quarter Rilski managed to pull away by 10 points at the break but the visitors responded and thanks mostly to Nikola Maravic tied the score after 30 minutes. In the final period both teams exchanged baskets and leads before 5 straight points put the visitors up and they never looked back.
Maravic had 25 points for the winners as Martin Durchev added 18. Derek Wright led Rilski with 18 points and 9 assists as Sheldon Jeter scored 13.
Elsewhere BC Levski Lukoil had an easy outing after downing Spartak Pleven 104-80 away. The visitors led from the start but not by much before the second half. They increased the lead to 16 points in the third quarter and the rest was just a formality.
Omari Gudul had 19 points for the winners as Nemanja Milosevic added 17.
After this round Levski is second with 14 wins and 5 defeats while Akademik and Rilski are tied for third with 13-6 record.
