Double-digit advantage for Bashkimi after round 1
KB Bashkimi took a double-digit advantage over BC Akademik Bultex 99 after the first playoff game. In Prizren the hosts won 94-81 after leading from start to finish and for sure there will be interesting moments waiting for us in the second game in Plovdiv next week. The visitors were down 25 points before the final period but fought hard to close the gap and give themselves a chance to overcome the deficit at home.
It was a slow start for both sides as they scored just 9 points in the first five minutes. The hosts though finished much better the first period and after an 11-4 run went up by 10 points. In the second Akademik managed to close the gap to just 6 but an 8-0 run gave Bashkimi a good lead. Until the break both sides exchanged baskets and after 20 minutes the hosts had a really good 15-point advantage.
The visitors started the second half on an 8-2 run to cut the deficit to single digits. Bashkimi however responded and soon had a 10-2 run to move up by 17 points. Not only that but the hosts continued to play much better and when they finished the third period with another 10-2 run, suddenly they went up by 25. The visitors didn′t give up after that and had an amazing 14-3 start to the fourth period. That helped them cut the deficit and until the end both teams exchanged points without making other big runs.
Frederic Stutz was the top scorer for the winners with 20 points. Aaron Moss also did very well with 19, 12 assists and 8 rebounds as Mikaile Tmusic scored 17 points.
Akademik hit 14 triples and was led by Vasil Bachev with 19 points. Aleksandar Gruev also played good and had 16 as Dimitar Dimitrov added 14 points.
